| How
to care
for your new body piercing:
Our aftercare is based not only
on our
experience of piercing since 1989, but with research in the field of
external
skeletal fixators (ESFs), the ONLY medical field that comes close to
body
piercing. We believe in purity in products, not harsh chemical
soaps
and cleansers. Please click one of the links below to find out
how
we recommend for you to care for your body piercing.

Soaps:
Certain types of
soap should
be avoided for a body piercing to heal properly. Additives like
fragrance,
deodorants, colors, moisturizers, and harsh anti-bacterial chemicals
can
be very irritating to a fresh piercing. Here at Warrior,
we
recommend the use of "pure" soaps, such as Ivory and clear glycerine
soaps.
Here is a listing
of ingredients
from the labels of these products.
DIAL SOAP Contains
the following:
Active ingredients: Triclocarban, Triclosan
Other ingredients: Sodium tallowate, sodium palmate, sodium cocoate,
palm
kernalate, water, PEG-6 methyl ether, fragrance, glycerin, sorbitol,
sodium
chloride, tetrasodium etidronate, pentasodium penetate, BHT, FD&C
Yellow
No. 5, D&C Yellow No. 8, FD&C Red No. 4
IVORY SOAP Contains
the following:
Ingredient:Sodium tallowate
CLEARLY
NATURAL SOAP (Unscented)
Contains the following:
Ingredient:Glycerine
Solutions:
Hydrogen
Peroxide is colorless, odorless, and does a fine job as long as it
is rinsed off after use. Preservative free saline solution is
very
helpful. Solutions of iodine (Betadine) and Bactine are not
conducive to the healing of a body piercing. The use of rubbing alcohol
(isopropyl) is also not recommended.
Lately there has been some controversy about the effect of hydrogen
peroxide
with body piercing. Here at Warrior, we have been
recommending
peroxide for over a decade without any problem. We base
our
aftercare on extensive research done by surgeons and specialists in the
field of External Skeletal Fixators, the only field in
the
medical industry that comes anywhere close to body piercing.
We have compiled a report based upon numerous articles in medical
journals
regarding the use of Hydrogen Peroxide and its effects on healing
tissued
with external skeletal fixators. Please click HERE

Mouth Washes:
Listerine brand is an antispetic mouthwash. The anitseptic
qualities
of this brand kill many types of bacteria in the mouth. Other
mouth
washes on the market that are not antiseptic are not
recommended
for
oral piercings. We recommend Listerine (any flavor will
work,
although it has been reported to us that the original is the most
disagreeable
in taste) for tongue, labret, Monroe, scrimpers (scrumpers), lingual
frenulum,
and all other oral piercings. Due to the increased amount of
rinsing
necessary in a piercing, it is recommended to dilute the solution 50/50
with water.
